Since the very beginning of its foundation, ATS’ core business has been the supply of rolling mills for the production of long product bars and wire rod lines.
In these 20 years of operation, ATS build up a long experience in:

  • Revamping and refurbishing of exiting rolling mills for production of deformed bars, SBQ bars, sections and wire rods
  • Supply of overhauled second hand equipment. All the equipment is cleaned and refurbished in our workshops in order for us to be able to guarantee their operation as a new equipment
  • Supply of tailor made single machines to be fitted in existing production lines to enhance their productivity or to reduce the operation cost. In particular ATS has a long reference list in the supply of Start/Stop shears, tying machines, fully automatic packaging areas.
  • Supply completely new rolling mills with a production capacity from 80,000 tpy up to 500,000 tpy.
ATS developed a new generation of rolling mills for the production of deformed bars. These rolling plants are focused to serve their local market and ATS design assures not only a low investment cost in the technological equipment but also in the buildings and auxiliary services.

A) Ultra Flexible rolling mill for bars, small sections and wire rod
ATS developed a new rolling mill dedicated to serve the complete range of steel products for the local market therefore they have a calibrated yearly production from 80,000 tpy up to 300,000 tpy of:
  • Deformed bars:   8 - 32 mm
  • Round bars:        16 - 35 mm
  • Wire rod:             5.5 - 16 mm
  • Flats:                   30x3 - 50x8 mm
  • Angles:                25x3 - 60x6 mm
  • Channels:            30x15 - 60x30 mm

Main characteristics are:
  • Optimized layout and technological solutions to guarantee a constant productivity of high quality products
  • Reduced investment cost in equipment, auxiliary services and buildings
  • Low production cost for an immediate return of investment

B) High speed bar delivery in cooling bedUltra Flexible rolling mill for bars, small sections and wire rod
In case of higher production lines, ATS’ high speed discharging system in cooling bed is adopted. This system includes: fast finishing block, high speed shear, bar breakers at the entry side of cooling bed and drum type breaking and discharging machine.

C) Mini Profile Mill
Mini Profile Mill technology has been developed for the production of a wide range of special sections starting from rolled wire rod coil.

The process flow includes:
  • Uncoiling station equipped with wire welding machine
  • Multi-roll wire straightener for the smooth feeding of the downstream induction furnace
  • Induction furnace to heat-up the material up to the rolling temperature of 750-850°C
  • Micro housing-less stands for the final shaping of the product. They are equipped with carbide rolls for an easy management of the production schedule.
  • Cut to final length shear
  • Cooling bed for product cooling down to room temperature
  • Bundling system
The feeding wire rod can range from 5.5 mm dia up to 20 mm dia. according to the final product.

By means of this technology, it is possible to produce:
  • Deformed round bars and plain round bars
  • Squares, hexagons, triangle and flat bars
  • Angles, channels, T bar, Y bar
  • Special section bars according to the design of the final user

Yearly total productivity can range from 10,000 up to 20,000 tpy, according to the production mix.



ATS Finishing line

ATS has developed complete finishing area to be installed in South America. The area is equiped  with  TV Camera, contactless, high precision bar counter from the roller table at cold shear exit to the bundle collecting chain transfer, for bars up to 20 meters.



METEC 2015

Last week, all eyes were focused on the biggest exhibition for metal and steel industries. This year METEC has exposed a remarkable success, with nearly 80,000 visitors from more than 120 countries. ATS S.p.A participated in METEC for the first time, however, our expectations were exceeded. Only during first day of exhibition we have received more than 300 guests. In particular we were pleased about  the internationality of the visitors. Especially from the Asian region we have seen the great demand for our equipment  and machinery that corresponds current requirements of the industry regarding innovative technologies and saving of resources. On top of them were experts from India, China, Turkey and South Africa. Furthermore, we have received a very positive feedback from stand visitors, industry partners, other participants of the fair. METEC is like the Olympic games, taking place every 4 years, yet every time with tremendous results. See you all again in four years!




Between 25th and 28th of May, ATS has attended 2015 SEAISI Conference & Exhibition Manila, Philippines. Addressing more than 500 regional and international delegates from main worldwide industries participants, ATS delegate has presented a paper “Exact, No-Twist, Aligned”. The paper provided a clear solution for the improvement productivity of the Packaging area of the rolling mill. The presentation generated a great interest from the contestants of the conference and resulted in new networking opportunities and projects. This event has offered a great opportunity to learn and discuss key issues which contribute to greater efficiency and profitability of ATS business. We are looking forward to participate in new SEAISI Conference in the upcoming years.
